Lā Kūʻokoʻa
November 28th marks the day that Timoteo Haʻalilio succeeded in gaining a treaty with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and with France that recognizes Hawaiʻi’s sovereignty. It is known as Lā Kūʻokoa, or Hawaiʻi’s Independence Day.
In celebration, we had a special screening with mele and discussion at Ka Waiwai Collective.
